Inclement Weather Policy for the BIKE & HIKE for ALS:

A rainy first BIKE & HIKE event.

A rainy first BIKE & HIKE event.

We always hope for great weather during the BIKE & HIKE.  The following details the steps and decisions we will make regarding the event if we face severe weather.

The BIKE & HIKE is a “rain or shine” event.  Cyclists should prepare to ride in the rain, if the forecast calls for it.  This means bringing along rain gear (including a bright colored jacket, vest or shirt). We will keep all riders up to date on the weather forecast, should a chance of storms be predicted. If it is raining, beware of wet roads, and the railroad tracks inside Pinnacle Mountain State Park

If a rider hears thunder or sees lightning, they should make every effort to get themselves to a safe place immediately. If you are near a checkpoint, either stay or return to the closest one. Sweep drivers will stop at each checkpoint and will make sure everyone is accounted for on the road.

The BIKE & HIKE may be delayed, altered, shortened, or end early due to inclement weather. The ONLY way the event will be cancelled is in the event of severe storms, severe lightning, tornado threats or other extreme weather conditions. The Bike & Hike event management will make these decisions as current and potential weather conditions become known and are studied.

Because a significant amount of the funds collected during registration have already been expended by the day of the event for the production of the event, and because each event is uniquely scheduled for its date and location, registration refunds are not possible and rescheduling the event is not feasible, and therefore we have a no refund policy.  Proceeds from registration fees, donations and sponsorships will continue to benefit the ALS Association of Arkansas, and Operation Speak Easier.

BIKE & HIKE, LLC will do everything possible to put on this event in a safe manner.   In the event that biking and hiking is not possible, participants will still receive their gear bag (with swag inside), and be able to participate in our finish line festivities.  For 2017, our start and finish line area is at Rockwater Village near the marina in North Little Rock.  In the event that the finish line party is moved indoors, that location will be available as you finish the ride.

Thank you for your understanding of these policies. We appreciate your participation.
